Greetings from North Uganda

Greetings from Northern Uganda!

Three years ago and again all of last week, we had powerful meetings in Yumbe town. Yumbe has a high percentage of Muslims (90%) and has been the most difficult place in Uganda for churches to get established. It is here where Idi Amin, the former President of Uganda came from. In looking back we can truly say, the Lord has done amazing things here. Our Football Tournaments helped us to connect and interact with the people on the ground. So many gave their lives to the Lord and had experienced an amazing turning point in their lives. One Muslim man testified of the Lord’s healing to his body and publicly said that he had decided to follow Jesus. It has been a joy to work together with our Finish Friends – Ilkka Salminen and Pertti and Heidi Sonderlund. They did a lot in all the organising and preparation. They are wonderful and experienced servants of God. What a joy it is to join hands together in winning souls for the kingdom of Christ.

Now we are in Yoyo, again with the soccer tournament, with children ministry and the main peace festival. At times you feel the whole town is present to watch their young people perform. In between the games we have opportunity to share our testimonies, play music or even share short powerful gospel pulling messages. In the evenings the field fills up with people wanting to hear our messages from the Torah, the prophets and the Njili (Gospel). Everything is geared at explaining the salvation message of our Lord Jesus Christ. The people here in Yoyo are very open. This time most of the congregation are South Sudanese and more Animistic people.  Many come from totally unreached regions.  It is so different when you see their reactions. You can tell that most of these people are not Church goers. But how wonderful when they all lift up their hands to indicate that they want to get right with God.

So many people get touched and healed.

A Moslem Man was healed from 4 years of pain in his shoulders, back and legs. He said very openly that he was a Moslem and now gave Jesus the Glory that he had healed him and that he wished to have a bible now. YOU should have seen the smile on his face when we gave him the Bible. Another woman had been suffering for 19 years and testified how she got healed from a paralysis on her left side (arm and foot). She was so happy that now she could move her body like never before in a long time.

God is so good. He answers prayer

  • Pray for Protection for the people who receive Christ as their Saviour
and also the protection of us as a team
  • Pray for a good follow up of the people in Jumbe.
  • Pray for the Holy Spirit to continue to work in people’s hearts. There are only three churches in this town.
  • Pray for our meetings now in the Refugee camp.
  • Pray for people to receive Christ
  • Pray for long-lasting change in the people’s lives. May they have a hope and a future.
  • Pray also for financial provision for all these Outreaches.
Often there are many unexpected things that suddenly crop up. For example we had to add soccer balls, buy more tires for the truck and some other things. Also the cost of accommodation suddenly turned out higher than we thought due to the presence of so many NGOs (Non Government Organisations).

Our teams had been working in this area 3 three weeks prior to the “Peace Festival”, showing the Jesus Film in many different areas. God has been able to use them wonderfully and the interaction of some of the few Christian leaders has been very exemplary.

Naliel, South Sudan
In January we visited the work in Naliel, South Sudan and saw the two Mission Homes slowly take shape. By the looks of things our two Kenyan Missionary families will be able to move in before April and continue with church planting and discipleship in the Toposa area. I will write more about all the amazing things we saw and experienced in our next newsmail.

Thank you so much for standing together with us. we highly appreciate all your payers and financial support.

God bless you all
Peter and Becki Franz
